Penne pasta originated in Liguria, Italy on a verifiable date of March 11, 1865 when a pasta maker named Giovanni Battista Capurro invented a machine that cut tubular pasta diagonally without crushing it. This shape intentionally mimicked the angled nibs of traditional writing quills and pens. The name Penne is the plural form of penna which means pen. Rigate translates to ridges.
A hyper local fresh pasta maker based out of Wilmington Island. Made by hand and slow dried, this pasta is made only with unbleached, non-GMO, Organic Durum Semolina flour and filtered water.
