Historically a Roman dish, Fettuccine translates to `small ribbons.’ In Italy, it is classically served with a beef or chicken ragu (meat sauce). The dish, Fettuccine Alfredo, was created in the early 20th Century and named at a hotel in Rome as a table side performance. Pasta, butter, parmigiana and a bit of the pasta water would be stirred into a creamy dish. The American version adds heavy cream, and while popular here, is unheard of in Italy.
A hyper local fresh pasta maker based out of Wilmington Island. Made by hand and slow dried, this pasta is made only with unbleached, non-GMO, Organic Durum Semolina flour and filtered water.
